Casting Call for “Within the Shadows”


Casting Call for "Within the Shadows", Mark Willard's independent study production! 

From the production crew:

We are casting a short film, Within the Shadows, as part of an independent study within Grady. Written and directed by Mark Willard, Within the Shadows is a coming of age comedy about the evil and merciless clown-mobster, Joey Balloons, and his relentless desire to steal the eminent and illustrious economical smart car, known as the Jupiter Domesphere. Main characters, Cody, Ben, and Emma, with the help of their eccentric ninja master, Sensei Pat, struggle to defeat Joey Balloons and his gang of clowns, in his quest for a Jupiter Domesphere.

The casting call will be held on two different days in the DREWRY ROOM on the 2nd floor of the JOURNALISM BUILDING:
Monday, September 12 from 5:00 - 7:00pm
Tuesday, September 13 from 5:00 - 7:00pm

Description of Characters to be Casted:

Juggles (clown) – Must be able to juggle 3 objects. Has a stereotypical mobster/gangster voice.

Clown #1 (clown) -- Has a stereotypical mobster/gangster voice. Gives funny one-liners.

Patches (clown) – Willing to smoke a cigar.

Bob Berkowitz – Used car salesman. Very eccentric and dramatic, yet unaware of social cues.

Girl – Must be willing to wear child clothes. Acts mockingly and makes fun of Young Cody.

Girls #1, #2, #3 – Must be willing to wear child clothes.

Guard #1 (clown) – Preferably a duo tryout with Guard #2; comfortable holding a prop gun.

Guard #2 (clown) – Preferably a duo tryout with Guard #1; comfortable holding a prop gun.

Clown #3 (clown) – Must be willing to be in a fight scene.

Clown #4 (clown) – Must be willing to be in a fight scene.

Jupiter Domesphere Voiceover – Open for interpretation. Similar to the ‘On Star’ voice.

We will also be looking for extras to dress as students and teachers; if you are interested in being an extra, please come by the casting call or follow the directions below.
